I now understand how,
How it became hard,
How it became coarse.
Through, time
And because of their pasts.
The wear and tear.
That one moment that breaks it all apart.
Or several consecutive erosions that tore it slowly.
All of the eyes that I’ve seen.
I saw the sorrow,
The troubles that they’re facing.
And even if they found joy,
They hid it well.
But the truth lies in their eyes.
And at first,
I don’t understand why.
But now I do.
And I hope,
There’s a chance for them.
A chance to have that true happiness.
To have a fresh start.
And to regain the shine in their eyes,
That was lost through time.
The shine,
That you could only see in children,
And babies.
Because that shine,
is genuine happiness.
